Day Three

Today was a long, but oh so delicious day!  I’m really liking this fruit kick I’ve been on, so for breakfast I had an orange and to spice things up a bit, a pear.  It’s been years since I’ve had a pear and I’m pretty sure it was the first time I had one that wasn’t canned or jarred.  Let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS!  Super juicy and definitely superior to the McDonalds breakfast my mom bought for our ride to the Quad Cities.

It was kind of a busy day, what with easter egg hunts and family coming in from all over, so we all kind of had a weird lunch. My grandma set out chips and meat sandwhiches for everyone.  Fun thing I learned, though the wheat bread I buy from the co-0p has literally like three ingredients, the wheat bread from hy-vee has like 20 and most of them unpronouncable.  I was really, quite incredibly dissapointed.  Even the turkey and ham wasn’t just ham and turkey it was full of random additives that surely aren’t healthy for you.  I almost caved and had some chips since the ingredients were: potatoes, sunflower oil and salt, but I reminded myself that this was still incredibly processed and even if it technically had simple ingredients, it didn’t really satisfy any of the real food criteria.

Having forgotten that I would need to eat dinner here, I went to Greatest Grains, a local natural foods store and bought some granola for breakfast tomorrow, apples and pears for snacks and some extra ingredients I forgot to buy at the co-op yesterday.  I had an apple as kind of a midday snack and it was yummy, but in all reality I was starving since I hadn’t had a chance to grab a bit of lunch.  So, for dinner while everyone else was eating greasy(yet oh so  yummy) Happy Joes, I ate some deliciousness I ordered from the deli.  Kuskus, artichoke, aparagus, potatoes and tomatoes with cheese.  While not quite on the same par as pizza, it was hella delicious!  I don’t have the receipt on my right now, but it all came out to under $6 which was incredibly exciting because I was uncomfortably full after all that!  It’s only been a few days, but I had a few comments by people who weren’t yet aware of my project that I looked healthier and even that I was losing weight.  Losing weight, while not the goal, is always exciting. :D

It’s small, but here’s a picture of the yumminess I ate. :D The kuskus tasted a lot like ramen noodles and I’m an uber fan of ramen, so I pretty much devoured the stuff.

Here’s a picture of the pizza they ate.  I definiately had the more nutritional and tastey meal.

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s post. I have such an amazing menu planned for the Easter Potluck.  It’s going to be DELICIOUS!

362 days to go!
